Wednesday 11th - Scooter finally insured

Scott and Suzanne were up pretty early today to catch the 8:25am bus which runs up our valley to Prats-de-Mollo. We were also up early because we had asked the builder to come back and take a little off the bottom of one of the French doors they had rehung. We took the opportunity to clear out the bedroom (for the last time) so John could paint the ceiling. YIPPEE. The painting is all finished in the bedroom now except for the skirting boards.

We put up the first curtain in the bedroom in the afternoon before returning to the insurance company and receiving the good news that we have been given permission to get insurance for the scooter. We get the impression that the reception had made a fair few phone calls on our behalf. We had to supply our receipt showing we have a fully approved scooter lock and are now waiting on a form to be sent out from head office for us to sign. We had had the scooter parked right in front of our apartment building, in the church square, but moved it today to one of the main parking lots and locked it to a tree. The activity here is really heating up in preparation for the feria (bullfighting weekend) and the council staff are out everywhere dropping off barriers, removing obstacles and so on.

S & S arrived back after a very successful trip up the valley, except the monastery at Arles-sur-Tech was closed (2hr lunchtime break) but they managed to catch the locals playing boule in Céret when they got home and enjoyed watching that for an hour. The locals get pretty earnest about it all and the measuring tape comes out surprisingly often.

Sardanes dancing in the streets

Coffee time so we headed out for a pleasant drink at our local before John cranked up the BBQ again and we had lovely smoky pork chops and vege kebabs. We are enjoying fresh fruit salad every night for dessert, plus sorbet of course. We really will miss the fruit so much when we go back home.
