Friday 6th - Electrical work done. Scott arrives.

We can feel the end of the work here (how many times have we said this?). M. Martrou the electrician was out of here at 11:30am, having completed all his work. We have lights everywhere, plenty of power points, stove, oven and more. It feels like luxury.

Mess of the day

Meanwhile we were sanding and plastering and cleaning. All that is left now is a little finish plastering around the new doorway, and paint to the hall and half the bedroom and lots of small bits and pieces. We finished the bulk of the sanding a bit after lunch, and then concentrated on cleaning and tidying, as Karen’s brother and his wife were due to arrive tonight. It was great packing away all the plastic covers and rediscovering all our furniture. Karen beat all the covers to death releasing clouds of white dust.

We now have the apartment clean and tidy, clearly the closest it has been to being complete, and we are very pleased, though knackered.

Karen’s brother Scott and his wife Suzanne were due in at 7:30pm from Dublin via Gerona, the Frogbus and the 1 bus, but had a slight hiccup with the different time zone when catching (i.e. not catching) the Frogbus, so missed it and had to wait for the next one. This meant they missed the last 1 bus, and were forced to take a pricy taxi to Céret finally arriving at 10:30pm, but in good spirits.
