The pool opened early this month, and we finally made our
way there this morning. It was great. Only 25m, but crystal clear water, warm
and not a hint of chlorine. Being outdoor, we can even work on our tans as we
trek up and down the lanes. Maybe I should add in some backstroke so I don’t
end up looking one-sided.
We spent a fair while going through our plans for our last 6
weeks. We are really quite sad that there is now so little time left. It all
seems to have rushed by, and is now running out. Sure we have got plenty done
on the apartment, but we have not really travelled much or seen the local area.
We have decided to give away going to Germany for book research, as it is all
well north and can easily be combined with Scandinavian research next year.
Instead we will do the French (to Akaroa) leg this year.
Skyped with Alastair for a good while and came up with a
plan. We’ll pick him up in Barcelona, drive up through the Pyrenees, up to La
Rochelle for research, through the Loire Valley (which we have never seen) and
finish in Paris. We should be able to get a little apartment there through
AirBNB for not too much. Again, we’ve not really looked around Paris unless
you count a couple of days in 1982.
