Thursday 19th - More prep work

Yeah, right. Why does preparation work always take so long to do. We bought some new skirting board and architrave from our local builders' supply shop in the morning and then nipped to the pool for a decent number of lengths and very short aquajog (note from John: no way me). Then back home and into yet another round of sanding, filling holes, cleaning up but more importantly got some undercoating done on the skirting and walls.

Next time we should be into the fun stuff – putting in the skirting, painting the ceiling, new colour on the walls, final coating the skirting, painting the French doors and new window frame in our room. It won’t be done in the blink of an eye though. Once we get all the blobs of paint off the floors (just can’t keep them inside the drop sheets) in the entrance hall and bedroom we will be able to polish the floors and get them looking really good. Next focus will probably be finishing off the kitchen.

BBQ time

We didn’t finish work until 7pm tonight so decided on a quick BBQ for dinner. John really does love his French sausages, though their length (a spiralled metre this time) can make cooking them a little bit of a challenge.

Well and truly knackered after 2 solid days’ work plus physical exercise 4 days in a row. We must be getting old L. We are thoroughly looking forward to a day off tomorrow. Our Aussie friends have invited us for a trip somewhere west of here for the day. They are hoping to turn an existing bedroom roof below their apartment into a deck and require the written consent of everyone in their building. Hence, they are off to track down one of the owners, and asked if we would like a day’s expedition into the countryside.
