A run first and then began to do the final coat on the tiles
in the bathroom when we realised that the new 10 litre pail we have opened is a
slightly different ‘satin’ than the one we have just finished. The result is
that the paint looks totally different – darker and flatter. Darn! Decided we
didn’t like the effect of the new paint so we will buy a new pail for the
bathroom, and take the opportunity to make it whiter still. Our pedestal fans finally
arrived after the false start when they disappeared into thin air between
Castorama and La Poste. They will be pretty helpful over the next week when it
is expected to be 28 or 29 all week.
Lots of fluffing around, including trying to contact our
electrician, looking up wardrobe units, paint options etc. Ended up
heading into Perpignan on the scooter at 3pm to try and source new paint and
check out wardrobes. Paint is so expensive that there is no point buying at
the smaller builder’s outlets nearby – you really want to buy it on special. It
was only 25min by scooter to the big stores on the southern outskirts of
Perpignan.
Quite unexpectedly it was one of our most successful
shopping expeditions. We found the two types of paint we needed on special, other
bits and pieces at Leroy Merlin, onto Auchan to stock up on our non-sweetened
muesli and then struck gold with finding and ordering a good solution to our wardrobe requirements
at Castorama.
Back home at 7.45pm and off to by takeaway kebab-paninis for
dinner.
