Wednesday 20th - A bed in the bedroom

Big excitement in Céret. We have a bed made up in our bedroom! Not only that, but another electrician is doing a devis for us.

The devis electrician didn’t turn up in the morning (no surprise there) but we filled in our time working and doing odd jobs. In the afternoon, we decided it was no point hanging about for the electrician, so headed off to M. Bricolage for some sealant for the floor in the bedroom. We also managed to get a whole bunch of other little bits and pieces including one of those high-voltage mini tennis racquets for zapping flies. Each morning we get about three that come in and do slow stupid circuits in the middle of the living room. No longer!

We have a bed!

The floor sealant went down in the afternoon, and absorbed so well that we decided we’d put the bed up. Awesome – it looks good in the bedroom and there’s heaps of space around it. At 5:30 a buzz on the door, and the electrician and his mate turned up to do the quote. Let’s hope it actually arrives soon.

In the evening we entertained Valerie and Lorcan, our friends and exchange hosts from 3 years ago. Parma ham and rockmelon (in full season now) for starters in the apartment, then we took them out for a very pleasant dinner at Place des Neuf Jets. They were most complimentary of our hard work, specially the kitchen, which we agree has been one of the best changes. So all in all, a very satisfactory and enjoyable day.
