Well we did it – the storeroom is now fully lined,
plastered, sealed and painted, and about to be tenanted with all sorts of stuff
from the other rooms. A full day’s effort, finishing off at 5:30pm. We are so
pleased to have it done. Decided to celebrate by going out to dinner. Showered,
feeling so clean after getting all the dust and paint off, knocked back a glass
of rosé, quick Skype with Alastair who is a box of birds now he knows he is
heading to IDEO in San Francisco, and out to La Fontaine, one of the three restaurants in
the little square behind our building.
Our Aussie friends happened to stroll by and we’ve invited
them for an aperitif tomorrow afternoon. They are a very nice couple. We then
got talking to another couple, Edward & Ros from St Albans, next to our
table. They also own an apartment here and pop across for weekends from their
home just out of London. They head back to England tomorrow but are going to
come and see us when they return in July. Again, very nice people.
We are definitely meeting up with new people, but have yet
to get to know many French (other than the café owners).
The hot temperatures have returned. The forecast is for close
to 30 degrees for the coming week. It was so nice sitting outside in just a
singlet (well, a little more actually) at 10pm having dinner. Tomorrow our new
bed is to arrive. With a little luck, we will also hear from our electrician J.
