Thursday 14th - Working on the storeroom

We launched into painting in the bathroom with the new colour (coats number 3 & 4!). I’m getting pretty sick of painting. J has started tackling the plaster joints in the storeroom as we can’t wait until the builder comes back after the electrician. We REALLY need the storeroom up and running so we can get rid of a lot of stuff currently in the bedroom and living room (including the bikes). It will give us a whole lot more space, and with our bed arriving Monday, space is at a premium.

Struck gold with the electrician – he came around to see us at 5pm. He was extremely apologetic about his tardiness and promised to give us a devis (quote) tomorrow, plus be able to start work on Monday. Yippee! He is a thoroughly cheerful and nice person and we would much rather have him do the work than the other electrician who has already quoted.

Absolutely knackered after another full day’s work on the bathroom, and J working in the storeroom. 9pm at night found us drilling holes in the walls to put up a shelving unit (actually one of the units from the old kitchen that we are re-using). John cut it down and put it back together so it works well in the bathroom above the hot water cylinder.

Stayed up until 10.3pm so I could ring my Dad for his 89th birthday. He was blown away to hear from me and was pretty chuffed. It was great to chat for a little while. My brother is accompanying him to his usual Friday night attendance at the RSA for dinner.
