Up late today with Sally needing a bit of catch-up. Went off
around town following our Céret walk sheet, looking at all the history, then
back for a normal cheese and bread lunch. Summer fruit has well and truly
arrived. Peaches, nectarines and apricots. They are all picked
ready-to-eat, not like NZ where they are picked a bit green and expected to
keep for longer. The flavour is excellent.
A good round of computer work in the afternoon, plus a
little prep work in the hope that the electrician turns up tomorrow morning.
For dinner we had our first properly cooked sausages cooked
on the little BBQ we had bought the day before. We put it on the small balcony
space outside one of our sets of windows. It has no heat control, just connected or not,
and this has the consequence that it gets pretty hot. In turn, this meant a
wonderful conflagration as the sausage fat dripped onto the hot elements and
caught alight. Quite spectacular, and necessitated the fan being turned
outwards to reduce the billowing smoke coming inside too much! The saussies tasted
great!
Rather hot today. As I write this at 10pm, it has just snuck
under 30 degrees outside. Late afternoon it was 34. It’s OK inside, but it does
mean keeping the house closed up from 9am onwards to preserve what night
coolness there is.
