We finally got our electrician! After who knows how many demain matins (tomorrow mornings) for quotes
and visits and starting, it finally was actually demain matin. Not that we got a full day from M. Martrou as he ducked
out a couple of times supposedly for materials, but they occurred suspiciously soon
after he had received phone calls. Not to worry, we now have the prewiring done
in all but the kitchen, and the builder has been contacted so he can come and
finish the plasterboard. I’ve been chasing around after the electrician filling
multiple holes punched in walls and ceilings for passing cable through.
Hopefully tomorrow will see the kitchen wired and even
connected up. What a thrill it would be for us to boil potatoes, not that we
are likely to do so – you don’t come to France for boiled spuds.
We’d all started the day with a 7am walk up past the
Capuchin monastery and back down another street. Even at that time it was 22
degrees. Sally and Karen then sat most of the day in Bar Pablo stretching out
coffees and rosé as there is precious little space in our apartment with half
the cupboards cleared, another round of plaster dust, and furniture filling the
entire living room. We are getting more than a little sick of moving
plasterboard sheets each night and morning so we can use our bed, and of
cleaning the floors.
Dinner was not French. Our favourite pizza place was closed,
so we thought we’d try a Vietnamese place. Good choice. Excellent food, we’ll
be back there for sure.
