More painting today, and more paid work. But just before lunch we saw our builder down below, and I went down to say we’d accept his quote for our building work. I asked when he could start, and he said tomorrow morning would be fine!!! So there was a fair bit of tidying up to be done – moving of shelf units, fixtures and fittings from the old kitchen to our main room to leave it clear for work. Also managed to change the light in the bathroom, watch a bit of tennis in our lunchtime, and drop off the rubbish.
We are forever filling up bags with cardboard or recyclables to drop then in the amazing receptacles which spring up around town. We presume they are planning to reduce the 6 times a week rubbish collection by setting huge bins under the streets with a smaller entry port on top – various versions for general rubbish, glass and packaging. A truck then comes along and lifts the whole huge bin out (1.8m cubes) and the bottom drops out and releases the rubbish into the truck. The workers can dig the hole, set in the bin and tidy it all up in 2 days.
