First day in Paris and we started with a bit of a sleep-in. We
know that seems a waste but we were absolutely knackered from the fast-paced multi-stop tour of
the last four days. John had a bit of work to do, and after making a quick plan
for the next four days we headed off in the direction of the Ile de la Cité. We
chose our apartment partly because of its location (right near Gare de Nord and
within close walking distance of most of the big sights of Paris).
We spent a very enjoyable six hours wandering to, around and
back from Ile de la Cité, during which we checked out Notre Dame, Saint-Chapelle,
and walked past a number of other major buildings including the Pompidou Centre.
Back on aching feet, to our apartment for a cold beer and
then out to a Chinese meal down the road. Again, a very nice meal. We ate out
very little while we were in Céret so are maybe making up for it a bit
here.
The temperatures have been much cooler here than in Céret.
It’s only got up to about 23 degrees so we are feeling quite cool. I’ve been
wearing a sweatshirt a lot of the time, first time for months.
