A start to the day in the pool again. We have been enjoying
it immensely. I wonder how Riverside will feel after swimming outdoors here. Back
to heat again today – yesterday’s cooler weather was a brief respite but very
welcome. We said goodbye to the painter Denis today. He’s back to Shanghai yet
again. He says the Chinese buy everything he can take there. He started a
painting of Place des Neuf Jets this morning, and had sold it before he even
finished it!

We have noticed a drop-off in tourists over the last few
days. It is no longer as busy, and also the type of visitor has changed. There
are now many young families about, and town has a slightly different feel,
including the wailing of babies. We also noticed leaves starting to fall from the
plane trees, which seems quite early.
Back to the finishing touches today – and we managed to get
the curtains up around the bed, four-poster style, but using a ceiling-mounted
rail. It has given the bedroom quite a romantic feel.
