Friday 17th - Roof terrace?

What I didn’t mention yesterday was that at our apero we all discussed the possibility of us converting the upstairs rooms. There seems to be good agreement among the other three neighbours that they think it is a good idea, and they have no objections at all. M. Freitas said the council shouldn’t be an issue at all, despite what we had heard. He knows of four roof terraces converted recently. It’s very good to have an insider on our side, especially one who is likely to make substantial money out of it himself, as he would be our builder! Olivier Thote has a mate who is a lawyer or something who is up with the play, and M. Antonetti is a long-term local too, so we have some useful contacts. We also found out that our seller, the alcoholic M. Vargas, no longer has any financial interest in the building as the flat below us has gone to a Céret-born Parisian lawyer, and M. Vargas’ gallery to a Brazilian.

Had an easy morning, then our 2nd real estate agent around at 2pm. Again good feedback that making a separate bedroom was a very good move (rather than having it as a studio as before). Finished off the evening watching an average movie from our USB drive.
