Saturday 21st

A day off today so down to the market (100m away) at the respectable hour of 10am. Bought our supplies of fruit and veges, accompanied by a large packet of steel wool for doing the floor and fireplace. Managed to quickly secure an outdoor table at the café (highly sought after) and listened to the jazz. A quick check of email and great news from Bella and Nic that they have just bought an apartment. They put in a bid at an auction, it was passed in to them, and they negotiated with the vendor. Extremely exciting for them, and it’s two bedroom (room for us when we visit?).

Sausages & spuds, French-style

A bit of a lazy afternoon – J reading and me working on my French. Stretched our legs with a bit of a walk around town. The real estate agent that we bought from was still working (6pm on Sat night) and we dropped in to say bonjour. We found out that the apartment below us is up for sale at the same price that we paid. It doesn’t have nearly as good a view as us and is probable well due for a makeover. It has been rented by the same women for the past 11 years, and her rental contract still has up to 3 years to run (so not as saleable in some respects).
