Friday 13th

Away at around 9am to find a local builder, one that had been recommended by the plumber. He had obviously moved because we ended up walking the entire 30 minutes back to the Industrial Zone that we were at on Tuesday. First stop was at Mr Bricolage for yet more building supplies, then to see the builder who wasn’t at his yard, then bought a pair of working shoes for J and then all the way back into town arriving home at 1.30pm. A much needed rest with feet up for an hour then back into scrubbing etc. I have now started work on sanding the main windows. It will be a big job but they should look pretty good when all finished.

The room already feels bigger and brighter

The outer shutters really need a good sanding down and painting but we are not quite sure how to tackle this because it is part of the outside façade and therefore all work on it must comply with the rules of the body corporate (and may be paid by them). Have yet to work out how to address this, but no rush. We come across the owner of the building often enough, he is usually at or around Bar Pablo. However he is usually about 80% sloshed (as he was when he sold us the apartment in the notaire’s office last year) and have chatted with him a few times but he is pretty hard to get much sense out of.

We are surprised at the price of some things here. Some tools are amazingly cheap while other bits and bobs are really dear, e.g.  43 for the replacement circuit breaker for the hot water.
