We managed to get in three Skype sessions this morning to
three different countries. We started in New Zealand with Sandy & Lynette,
moved on to France and Suzy, and finished with Sally and New Zealand. Skype is
so good. Our connection here seems adequate for Skype with two-way video, which
is so good when it works.

We then rushed off on the scooter to Valerie and Lorcan’s for
lunch. We had the odd issue with directions and took a long way there passing some
interesting little towns. I was dreaming a bit and had taken a turn for Céret instead
of Laroque at one point! We have let ourselves get a bit too tired – Thursday and
Friday were pretty tough days. Lunch was lovely. We sat and had a good yarn
about all sorts of things, comparing notes. We seem to have got off lightly so
far with deliveries and tradesmen.
When we got back home mid-afternoon we intended to put our
feet up, but thought it would be nice to move to our sofa-bed instead of the
blow-up plus mattress. So we had a bit of fun assembling the big IKEA sofa-bed.
It went together easily (we have found everything has gone together easily,
though have had a backtrack or two with parts in upside-down or bad side out). Unfortunately
another piece of poor IKEA quality control as the sofa cover has a large slightly
oily stain. No doubt we will get a replacement easily, but it is annoying as it
is pretty obvious.
The room is starting to get a bit crowded, but that’s hard
to avoid given its size. However it looks like it will all fit in OK, and the
overall effect is more or less what we had imagined. It is perhaps more cosy,
and less stark than expected.
The sofa-bed is large – an easy three-seater, and a queen slat
bed when extended. On undoing the blow-up mattress we found that 5 weeks of
sleeping on it, the last week or so in hot temperatures, had allowed the start of
some mildew on the top of the blow-up. Just as well we have swapped now and not
in a fortnight’s time. So off to sleep on our new bed…
